F-Type transmission dual clutch or torque converter?

Is the 8 speed automatic transmission dual clutch or a standard torque converter?

I'm trying to get that answer as well. Many issues with the dual clutch transmissions on other newer cars.

This is one reason I'm reconsidering the F Type over the Porsche Cayman due to the problems they are having with their PDK transmissions. It's great that Jaguar made this wise move.

So what are the benefits of having a 8 speed torque converter transmission?

Until the quirks can be worked out of DCT transmissions, it's the better choice at this time.

In Dynamic Mode the new ZF 8-speed locks up the torque converter after the 1-2 upshift such that it feels and performs very much like a dual clutch. However, when not in Dynamic Mode it provides the smooth shifting of a torque converter automatic. Basically, the best of both worlds. I'm pretty sure other manufacturers (BMW particularly) are likely to install it very soon.
