First Full Test of the V8

June 12 issue of Autocar (UK) has a full test of the car, including track times and acceleration.

Generally favorable results. They like it a lot. Car weighs WAY more than advertised -nearly 4000 lbs with all fluids. Somewhat disappointing track and acceleration results - compared it to a Mercedes SL 500, and the Jag barely beat it. 0-60 4 seconds (pretty good), ¼ mile 12.3 at 116mph. (I was hoping for 12.0 at 120).
On the other hand, they also observed that the car “feels” stronger/faster than it is, which is a good thing.
Need to wait for the Americans to test it and see if they can do any better.

September issue of Car and Driver puts the V8 at 0-60 at 3.6 sec and the 1/4 mile at 11.9@120 mph. I will take my V8 to the drag strip next month. If I remember will post my times. I'm kind of heavy so that may slow it down a few ticks.

Under 4 seconds is quick enough for me.

That weight thing does bother me though.

Going to wait till someone else weighs the V8 and see if they also get the same results. Did Jaguar weigh the car completely dry? Is that usually how they do it?

I think 4 seconds will be quick enough for a lot of people that will be buying the 4C, I feel that the 4C isn't just a track king but something someone who doesn't care about racing and just want a nice vehicle for the city can have.
